Advanced XP Defender

Category: Latest Threats

PandoraSoftware’s, on experts’ opinion, more or less worth of attention releases like SpyAway or WinIFixer, in spring of 2008 attacked the personal computers, or their users, with new dirty thing, Advanced XP Defender (AdvancedXPDefender). We do not recommend visiting AdvancedXPDefender.com, and if you have the highest level of security preferences, this web-site is usually blocked – and reasonably! Time after time, miriads of viruses and malware (of course, of PandoraSoftware origin) infects the web-site, so that your PC has a great chance to become a one of the largest permanent residence place for products of the this company o fraudsters. Well, that is about the web-site, and what about XP Defender itself. [ Read Full Entry ]

  1. On May 15th this software was downloaded on my computer and I was wonder how I would go about getting my money back. I had bought the package that was 49.99 and they took 110 dollars out of my account. I have tried to contact them many times but I cant get a hold of them and when I leave them an email I get nothing back. thank you Amy Redlin

  2. Amy -

There is no way to get ahold of them - they make themselves purposely impossible to contact because they are a SCAM COMPANY who used your information to loot your bank account. You will have a tought time recovering the money, but it won’t be from them - go to your bank and tell them you (rightly) were a victim of identity theft and did not authorize the $110 (don’t even mention the $49.99). This may be the only way to get your money back, if at all.

As far as your computer is concerned, it needs to have the hard drive wiped clean and loaded with a fresh version of Windows. There is NO SUCH THING as “Advanced” XP Defender, but there is Windows Defender from Microsoft. Once your hard drive is cleaned, I suggest you get the free versions of AVG Antivirus 8.0, Spybot: Search & Destroy 1.5, ClamWin, Avira Antivirus, and/or WinPatrol. If you want to pay for an antivirus, I suggest the AVG Security Suite or NOD32. I have used all these programs and can vouch that, when downloaded from the source or approved mirror servers, are good defenses against just such things…
