Enterprise prefer downgrading Vista to XP
Microsoft recently stopped the sales of Windows XP operating system in the market. This vintage but still very popular OS is now only available on machines meeting specific criteria.
The company has spent millions of dollars on advertising promoting the new Vista operating system. But apparently, Vista is still to catch the attention of enterprise entities.
Market sources say that one out of three new enterprise PCs purchased in the market are running Windows XP.
A research was conducted by Devil Mountain Software. They found out that companies are purchasing the machines which come loaded with Vista but they choose the option to downgrade the OS to XP.
Craig Barth, chief technology officer at Devil Mountain spoke about their findings: “Not everyone in the archives is running Vista, but out of the sample set of Vista-capable population and those that shipped with Vista — in the less than 1,000 PC range — what we’re seeing is two-thirds of those systems still have Vista installed. One-third of them have been modified to run XP at this date.”
